A Message from Muhammad…

“I have come a long way since I started boxing.  I’ve traveled all around the world and met all types of people.  I believe that God beautified the planet by spreading everyone out and making us different.  The goal of our nations should be to work on understanding, respecting our differences, and celebrating our similarities.  We should appreciate the beauty in diversity.  It would be a boring world, if every flower were the same shape, color and size.

Growing up, I had trouble reading and spelling.  I barely graduated from high school.  They have a name for what I have, dyslexia.  School was challenging for me, but I found a way to work it out.  When it came to a brick wall, I didn’t give up and quit; I found my way around, under, or over it.

All through my life I have been tested.  My will has been tested, my courage has been tested, and my strength has been tested.  Now my patience and endurance are being tested.  I have learned to live my life one step, one breath, and one moment at a time, but it was a long road.  I set out on a journey of love, seeking truth, peace, and understanding.  I am still learning.”

Here is a blurb about the Muhammad Ali Center

The Muhammad Ali Center serves as both a destination site and an international education and cultural center that is inspired by the ideals of its founder Muhammad Ali. The Ali Center’s innovative and immersive visitor experience, public and educational programming, and global initiatives – including conflict resolution training and management – carry on Muhammad’s legacy and continue his life’s work. Two-and-a-half levels of interactive exhibits and captivating multi-media presentations present Ali’s life story through the six core values of his life: respect, confidence, conviction, dedication, giving, and spirituality. Ultimately, the Ali Center strives to inspire you to pursue your potential and explore the greatness that lies within yourself.

Much more than a place that tells the story of one man’s journey, the Ali Center reaches beyond its physical walls to fulfill its mission: To preserve and share the legacy and ideals of Muhammad Ali, to promote respect, hope and understanding, and to inspire adults and children everywhere to be as great as they can be.
